The Story of Ethel & Harold

Since 1985 — From New York, with love.

It all started in 1985, in the corner of our tiny apartment in Brooklyn.
I was a young woman with a sewing machine and a stubborn kind of hope. Harold, my husband, believed in me before I believed in myself.

We didn’t have a storefront, a team, or a plan.
Just some fabric, two hands, and the idea that a good coat could be more than something to keep you warm — it could carry strength, softness, and the quiet confidence a woman wears when she knows who she is.

We made each piece by hand at our kitchen table.
Sometimes we worked through the night. Sometimes we laughed more than we stitched.
But every coat we sent out carried something personal — not just our craftsmanship, but a part of our story.

Years passed.
Seasons came and went. Styles changed. Life got busier.
But we stayed true to what we started:
Making outerwear that feels like it was made just for you — because it was.

Even now, all these years later, we’re still here.
Still family-run. Still New York.
Still stitching care into every lining, every button, every sleeve.

This isn’t just a business. It’s our family’s story — and now, it’s part of yours too.

Thank you for letting us dress you all these years.
We’re not done. In fact, we’re just getting started again.

With love,
Ethel & Harold
